Dynamics 365 Business Central Implementation & Support for Australian SMBs

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central implementation and support for Australian SMBs. Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane. The only partner who also runs your IT.

You did not outgrow MYOB. MYOB stopped being the point

Nobody replaces their accounting system because the accounting stopped working. The accounting is fine.

What breaks is everything around it. Stock lives in one place, jobs in another, quotes in a spreadsheet on someone's desktop. Month end takes a week because three people are reconciling systems that were never meant to talk. Someone asks what your margin was on a customer last quarter and the honest answer is that it would take a day to find out.

That is the moment businesses start looking at ERP. Not because the books are wrong, but because the business has gone quiet on you.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is the answer for a lot of Australian SMBs. It puts finance, inventory, purchasing, sales, projects and reporting on one platform, in the Microsoft cloud you are probably already paying for.

What makes Oxana different

The partner who also runs your IT

Almost every Business Central partner in Australia is a Business Central consultancy. They implement, they train, they hand you back to whoever runs your IT, and the two never speak again.

Oxana does both. We are a Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program member that implements Business Central and runs managed IT, Microsoft 365, security and identity for Australian SMBs. Same tenant. Same team. Same phone number.

That matters more than it sounds. Most of what goes wrong with an ERP after go live is not ERP. It is a permissions issue, a licence assignment, an Entra ID problem, a network path, a mailbox rule, an integration that broke when something upstream changed. When your ERP partner and your IT provider are different companies, that becomes a ticket each and a fortnight of nobody owning it.

If you have an internal IT person

We work alongside them rather than around them. They keep ownership and the relationships. We bring the Business Central depth that does not justify a full time hire. That is the co managed model we built the business on and it is why our clients keep their people.

Same tenant, same team, same phone number
ERP partner and IT provider in one company
Co managed model keeps your internal people
Entra ID, licensing and identity owned, not outsourced

What does Business Central actually do?

Dynamics 365 Business Central puts financial management, inventory and purchasing, sales and quoting, projects, manufacturing, reporting and Copilot AI on one platform in the Microsoft cloud, replacing the spreadsheets and disconnected systems that make month end take a week.

Financial management

General ledger, receivables, payables, fixed assets, bank reconciliation, multi currency. GST and BAS reporting built for Australian obligations, not bolted on. Month end drops from a week to a couple of days for most of our clients.

Inventory and purchasing

Real time stock across locations. Reorder points and lead times per supplier. Landed cost so freight, duty and customs land on the right item and your margin is your actual margin. If you import into Australia and you are not doing landed cost properly, your gross margin report is fiction.

Sales and quoting

Quotes to orders to invoices without rekeying. Credit limits and payment history visible while you are still quoting.

Projects and jobs

Time, cost and billing against jobs, with real profitability rather than a number you calculate afterwards.

Manufacturing and service

Bills of materials, production orders, capacity planning and service management, in the Premium licence.

Reporting

Native Power BI connection. Dashboards your leadership will actually open, because the data underneath is one system rather than four exports.

Copilot

Bank reconciliation suggestions, marketing text, document matching. We turn on what earns its place and leave the rest off.

Where it connects

Business Central sits on the same Microsoft cloud as your email and files, so the joins are already built.

Outlook

Approve a purchase order from your inbox without leaving the email.

Teams

Look up a customer balance from a chat without switching apps.

SharePoint

Project documents stored against the job record, where they belong.

Dynamics 365 Sales

Your reps see stock and credit while quoting, not after.

Dynamics 365 Field Service

Work orders become invoices the same day rather than three weeks later.

Power Platform

If something specific to your industry does not exist, Oxana AI Studio builds it in house, not subcontracted.

Industry use cases for Sydney mid-market firms

Business Central is not a generic accounting system. Oxana configures it for the way wholesale, distribution, and professional services businesses in Sydney actually run, with financial management and supply chain modules integrated into your modern Microsoft 365 environment.

Wholesale distribution

Real time stock across multiple warehouses, landed cost tracking for imported goods, and reorder points that prevent stockouts without overcapitalising. Sales reps see live availability and customer credit limits while quoting, so you never sell what you cannot deliver. Financial management ties every transaction back to the general ledger, so month end is a reconciliation, not a reconstruction.

Distribution and logistics

Multi location inventory, transfer orders, and pick and pack workflows that match how your warehouse team actually works. Business Central connects to Dynamics 365 Field Service and Power Platform so delivery routes, driver schedules, and customer SLAs live on one platform. GST and BAS reporting is built in for Australian obligations, not bolted on.

Professional services

Time, cost, and billing against jobs with real profitability rather than a number you calculate afterwards. Project managers see utilisation, work in progress, and margin by project in real time. Business Central connects to Outlook and Teams so approvals and client communication happen without switching systems, and Power BI dashboards give partners a live view of practice health.

How does an implementation work?

An Oxana Business Central implementation runs in five stages: discovery, design, build and migrate, train and cut over, then ongoing support. A single entity business typically goes live in twelve to sixteen weeks, and you see the system working in a sandbox before you commit.

01

Discovery

Two to three sessions with finance and operations. We map how your business actually runs, and we look honestly at your data. Item masters and chart of accounts are almost always messier than anyone expects, and we would rather say so in week one than week six.

02

Design

Chart of accounts, costing method, dimensions, workflows. Costing method in particular carries long consequences, so we make sure you understand the choice rather than defaulting it.

03

Build and migrate

Sandbox configuration, data cleaned and loaded, integrations connected. You see it working before you commit.

04

Train and cut over

Role based training. Cutover planned to the hour, because you cannot pause the business while you switch finance systems.

05

Ongoing

Oxana stays. Reports change, teams change, obligations change. You have someone to call who already knows your build and already runs your environment.

Common questions

About Dynamics 365 Business Central for Australian businesses.

How long does a Business Central implementation take?

A single entity distributor or services business typically runs twelve to sixteen weeks. Manufacturing, multiple entities or bad source data extend it. Data quality moves the date more than anything else.

Can we migrate from MYOB, Xero or QuickBooks?

Yes. All three are common starting points. The technical migration is rarely the hard part. Deciding how much history to bring across usually is.

Do we need to leave our IT provider?

No. Plenty of our Business Central clients keep their existing provider. It just works better when they do not have to.

Is Business Central right for us, or do we need the bigger platform?

For most Australian SMBs, Business Central is enough. The threshold is genuine multi entity consolidation, complex production or full warehouse management. We put the recommendation in writing before you commit.

Can we start small?

Yes. Finance first, inventory or projects in phase two, is a pattern that works.

What does Business Central cost in Australia?

Business Central is licensed per user per month, with Essentials covering finance, sales, purchasing, inventory and projects, and Premium adding manufacturing and service management. A Team Member licence covers people who only approve, enter time or read reports. Getting this mix right is the largest single lever on total cost. Implementation is separate and we quote fixed price after discovery.

Is it Microsoft Business Central, Dynamics 365 Business Central or just Business Central?

All three names refer to the same product. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is the full name. People also search for it as Microsoft Business Central, Dynamics Business Central, MS Dynamics 365 Business Central, or simply Business Central, and sometimes as one word BusinessCentral. Common misspellings like bussiness central and business cental all land here too. Whatever you call it, it is the same all in one ERP on the Microsoft cloud.

How does Business Central fit wholesale and distribution businesses in Sydney?

Business Central gives wholesale and distribution businesses real time stock across multiple warehouses, landed cost tracking for imported goods, and reorder points that prevent stockouts. Sales reps see live availability and credit limits while quoting. Financial management ties every transaction to the general ledger, and the supply chain modules connect to Power Platform and Dynamics 365 Field Service so inventory, delivery, and billing live on one platform.

Can Business Central handle professional services billing and project profitability?

Yes. Business Central projects and jobs modules track time, cost, and billing against each job with real profitability, not a number calculated afterwards. Project managers see utilisation, work in progress, and margin by project live. It connects to Outlook and Teams for approvals, and Power BI gives partners a live view of practice health, utilisation, and revenue.

How long does Business Central implementation take for a wholesale distributor?

A single entity wholesale distributor typically goes live in twelve to sixteen weeks. Wholesale implementations spend more time on inventory setup than services businesses, because landed cost, reorder points, and multi location stock need to be configured correctly from day one. Data quality on the item master is the single biggest timeline risk, so we start with a data audit in week one.

Can Business Central integrate with our existing warehouse management system?

Yes. Business Central connects to third party warehouse management systems via APIs and the Business Central integration framework. If you already run a WMS, Oxana builds the integration so sales orders, purchase orders, and stock movements sync automatically. If you do not have a WMS, Business Central native warehouse management handles bin level tracking, pick and pack, and transfers across multiple locations.
